Psalm 18:19 “He brought me forth also into a large place, he delivered me, because He delighted in me.”
This has long been one of my favorite verses. Without fail, reading it always brings a tear to my eyes.
Why? Because I can well imagine the Lord delighting in almost anyone, my husband, my children, my friends. But just thinking of Him delighting in me seems beyond belief. You see, I know me, I know my heart. I know how often I fail, how often I don’t measure up to what I want to be, how often I’m just not what HE wants me to be.
Isn’t it a good thing that having the Lord delight in us doesn’t depend on what we can or can’t do? Or what we will or won’t do?
I’m often amazed at my own stubbornness. I know what is right, yet I refuse to do it. As we enter into this new year I invite you to pray with me:
Come, Lord Jesus; replace my heart of stone with a heart of flesh, one that desires to obey You in all I do.
