Introduction
Hi,
I’m Phyllis. I’ve always wanted to be a writer, but life, family, babies, and leukemia kept pushing my dream farther and farther out of my reach.
In 1996 we began to take several days to go away as a family to pray and seek the Lord for His plans for us as individuals, and as a family.
During those years, I dabbled at writing, and had a few newspaper articles published, and even got paid! Then I sent in a magazine article and it was accepted, so I sent another, and soon I had my own column.
In 2007 my husband Dan, encouraged me to write about the vision the Lord gave us during our planning times to live our lives more proactively. We had chosen Proverbs 29:18 as the verse for what we felt the Lord had called our family to do, “Where there is no vision the people perish.”
So when I read Habakkuk 2:2-3 I chose it as my verse for writing the vision. I like the transition in this verse – write the vision; make it plain, that he may run that readeth it.
“And the Lord answered me, and said, write the vision, and make it plain upon tablets, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for the appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” Habakkuk 2:2-3
I have written about the vision in our ebook Purposeful Planning, trying to make it plain enough for others to understand, and many have done that and run with it for their own families. It has blessed us to watch them “catch a vision” for living proactively for the Lord.
After listening to the experiences and suggestions of other families we did a revision of Purposeful Planning in 2010, adding their ideas and things that they found helpful.
Since 2007 I have written several other books, available in our online bookstore, but Purposeful Planning has always been at the center of my heart and my desire is to see other families catch a vision for seeking the Lord for His plan for their lives and that of their family.
I feel like I’m waiting for the second part of Habakkuk 2:2-3 to be fulfilled:
“For the vision is yet for the appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” Habakkuk 2:2-3
So, while I wait, I want to share with my fellow writers some tips, interesting articles, and other authors that I’ve read and been encouraged by.
If you share a love of writing I hope you will find something on this slice of my website that will be encouraging and inspiring to you as a writer or someone who aspires to be a writer. Feel free to join in by commenting, or contacting me directly at Phyllis@Phyllis-Sather.com. Come, lets encourage each other.
