Yearly Planning at the Sather House

This is the 23rd year we are setting aside a week to pray and seek the Lord about His plans for us and our family.

When I look back I can see some of what that consistency has accomplished. Many things would not have happened if we had not set aside this time each year to connect with the Lord and each other.

It brought tears to my eyes when my son told me he and his bride had a little planning day on their honeymoon! He had asked for a copy of the book – Purposeful Planning – but I didn’t realize that was his purpose for wanting it.

Starting Saturday, January 19th we will spend the better part of each day for the next week talking and praying with each other and our two daughters who are still at home. Yes, they are adults, but they really want to have their time to talk and pray with us. Isn’t that wonderful!

As usual, we would like to ask you to pray for us during this time. We NEED your prayers. Our enemy doesn’t want us to spend this time seeking God’s plans for our lives. He wants us to fail, and our family to fail.

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” I Peter 5:8

Our Scripture for this book is “Where there is no vision the people perish.” Proverbs 29:18

This time is when we check our course. Are still walking the way the Lord wants us to? Are we going the way we planned, or have we somehow gotten off on the wrong trail?

I had a lesson on this yesterday when going to meet my friend. Thinking away I suddenly realized I was on the wrong street. I ended up being a half hour late because I wasn’t paying attention. I had signs, like not remembering some things along the way I was on. But it took me a while to realize that I was lost.

Please leave me a comment telling me you will be praying for us. It will really encourage us. Somehow this got left off the original email – I will have a special freebie for those who pray for us next week. Just leave me a comment. I’ll try to drop some notes next week as well updating you on our progress.

I’ll be praying for your family. I’m going to talk to my husband about starting something like this, too!

This idea is so simple yet easy to forget or take for granted. I too often have gotten off track by not focusing on where God wants us to go. Thank you for the reminder!

I will be praying for you and your family, including the newlyweds!! That is so precious. I love idea and think we will be implementing it…. Sort of because I am not sure what I am doing 😂.

THANK YOU FOR THE IDEA AND ALL YOUR ENCOURAGEMENT!
