If you’ve followed me for any time you’ve heard Alana’s name already. I’ve read everything she has written and reviewed most of her books. She continues to write thought provoking novels about difficult topics that you will enjoy, but that will also make you think through things that you haven’t considered before or haven’t taken time to think through.
She writes in an easy to read, non-preachy way that leaves no doubt about where she stands on these issues, but brings you to the place where you need to make a choice.
In the second book in the Kennedy Stern series Kennedy is still suffering from her experience of being kidnapped while trying to help a young unwed mother. She is afraid to share her mental and emotional struggles because she things more prayer and reading the Bible should help her – after all, she is a Christian.
What will others think of her if she needs counseling or meds? This raises the rarely discussed topic of can real Christians have mental health issues.
Don’t start reading this or any of Alana’s books at 1 AM because you can’t sleep. It won’t help, but will keep you up several more hours.
