This is part three of a three part series. If you haven’t read part one you can do that here and part two is here.
I guess we must have felt quite daring last year during our planning time since we asked our children to tell us what they thought we were doing right and what we were doing wrong as parents.
Their answers might surprise you, they certainly surprised, and pleased us.
They said,
– We’ve always been supportive of their different passions (art, businesses, writing, etc.)
– They appreciate the time we spend together as family and the emphasis on family dinners together
– We gave them an appreciation for good music and literature
– They all three really appreciate our annual planning times
– We taught them the importance of reciprocating in conversations
– We taught them the importance of not only going to church, but engaging with people and becoming a part of the body of Christ
– We showed them wisdom in spending – when to splurge and when to save and hold back
– Dad always listens to them talk about things, even when he doesn’t have a particular interest in them
They did have some suggestions for ways we could do some things better and we’ve taken them to heart and worked toward that this year. We were glad to receive their report that we have improved.
