This is the second time my husband has blessed my daughters and I with a chance to go away for a few days to write without the interruptions of daily life. No meals to cook, no beds to make, and no house to clean, just four days to seek the Lord, write, relax, and have some girl fun.
I must say that we are enjoying ourselves immensely and getting a lot done – I’m writing this on Sunday, half way through our time and together we have about 10,000 words written and mostly edited. We’ve had some deep discussions about where we’re going with our writing and how we plan to get there. I’m continually blessed because there was a time I couldn’t even imagine this being a part of our lives.
This has always been one of my favorite verses and one that I’ve seen the Lord fulfill in my life many times including my love of writing and my desire to share that with my daughters.
“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,” Ephesians 3:20 KJV
My daughter Emily writes a little about that in her article An Accidental Writer
This has always been one of my favorite verses and one that I’ve seen the Lord fulfill in my life many times including making my daughters writers.
I think our guys are enjoying having some guy time too. Uninterrupted time to bike, talk, bike, and leave messes without being asked to pick-up. I know I said biking twice – it’s because they’re doing a lot of biking. Come Monday night they’ll be cleaning up – right guys?
We left them with clean biking clothes and meals that all contain some form of tomato sauce so they’ll be well fed.

Hi Phyllis! What a blessing your retreat sounds. If I was granted an undisturbed amount of time, I would kick up my heels. 🙂 Seriously, I would knit. I love knitting! Thank you for linking up with Thankful Thursdays.

That works Lori. It really is fun to have time to do something you love doing without other responsibilities. However, it’s also good to be home again among all the hustle and bustle.
