“If we focus on our needs, we will always be needy, but if we focus on sowing, we will always have what is sufficient for our needs.” Bill Gothard
“If we focus on our needs, we will always be needy,” As I read this to my children this morning I was stopped in my tracks by what a profound statement it is, yet this is often where I find myself stuck.
I don’t have enough time, energy, or resources – whatever! Do you ever find yourself there?
The Word of God has a lot to say about the Lord’s provision and care. For instance:
Philippians 4:19 says, “But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
Too often I’m looking at my feelings and not the Lord’s riches when I decide I don’t have enough of something to do what I need/want to be doing.
God’s principle of sowing and reaping never fails. We can’t out-give God – no matter what commodity we are talking about – time, money, talent, love, energy, or effort.
There is an old saying, “What goes around, comes around.” It’s a simple variation on sowing and reaping. You will harvest what you plant – you will get what you give.
Luke 6:38: “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”
What would you like to harvest? Start planting…

Oh dear, such challenging words but oh, so true. What good encouragement for the homeschool mama!
I hope it’s okay to share your blog on a homeschool fellowship forum that I frequent. A lot of mums will be blessed and encouraged by your posts.

Just today I found your site by way of a rabbit-trail. I’m blessed by what I’ve read so far and will be back soon to peruse a bit longer.
Bless you dearly…

HI Phyllis,
Thank you for these timely words. I have been “battle weary” and facing health issues, and definitely NEED to keep my eyes on Jesus to meet all my needs and the needs of my family.
God Bless you sweet sister,

Phyllis, This is an awesome thought. Challanging. THanks for giving it at the beginning of the week. Gives me some things to think about at the start of the new school year – when I get so tierd getting everything off and running. Have a great week!
