Alana Terry has become one of my favorite authors. I was privileged to read her book The Beloved Daughter last December. It left me wanting more, even though it was a book about a very difficult topic – life in North Korean prison camps. It opened my eyes to what was happening in the real world – right now!
Her book Slave Again is equally compelling although it takes place after the escape of Mee-Kyong when she is in the Chinese underworld. Her life doesn’t improve much – just becomes a different nightmare.
The story switches back and forth between a missionary couple and Mee-Kyong’s lives. The tension grows as Alana tells both their stories and as the hope for redemption grows.
Even though I thought I was familiar with Alana’s writing the ending still took me by surprise, and left me wanting more. No spoilers here – you’ll have to read it yourself. You won’t be disappointed.
