Has the Lord Been Waiting to be Gracious to You?

Isaiah 30:18-21 talks about the Lord waiting for us. He isn’t nearly as impatient as I am and he is waiting for some very special reasons.Don’t you just hate waiting? I know I do, but then I’m always on the go and find it frustrating to have someone not keeping up with me. I know that isn’t a very good attitude and I’ve spent years learning to wait.

Someone once said, don’t pray for patience or you’ll find yourself standing in every long line there is available.

When my husband was in school and it seemed I was always waiting for him I decided to begin to thank the Lord that I had someone like him to wait for. It changed my whole attitude and was a great blessing to Dan. It’s a good thing because I still spend a lot of time waiting for that man!

Isaiah 30:18-21 talks about the Lord waiting for us. He isn’t nearly as impatient as I am and he is waiting for some very special reasons.

“And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.

For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no more: he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee.

And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers:

And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.”

I see several things the Lord is waiting to do for you in the above verses.

He waits:

  • That He may be gracious to you
  • That He may have mercy on you
  • That you may be blessed as you wait on Him
  • That you should weep no more
  • That He may be very gracious to you
  • That He may answer you
  • That you might receive his direction for each step of the way

What a challenge this is for me. Can I possibly wait for someone so I can show them the above things – grace, mercy, blessings, and comfort? Let it be so Lord.

Are you in need of grace, mercy, blessings, and comfort? The Lord is waiting.

oh wow! It is so hard to WAIT on the Lord! We are waiting for His Mercy in a couple areas of our lives right now!! We are powerless to change the circumstances — only He can provide what is needed! So hard to WAIT joyfully, patiently, with total trust and faith . . . .

    thank you for sharing this!

Unless my now 50-year-old eyes missed it, I didn’t see my blog listed in your list of blogs you link up with. Would you mind adding it to the list? thanks!

    Thanks for linking up! 🙂

I’m not good at waiting – at all, so this was written to myself.

Some of our greatest learning times are when we’re waiting – even though it’s very difficult and we don’t understand it, we can look back and often see what the Lord was doing. Thanks for sharing.

I never thought about the purpose of my waiting to be grace, mercy, blessings, and comfort, but you are so right. We should look at what the Lord does in His waiting and follow His example. Thank you for teaching me a little more about the patience I so need to employ. God bless.

I tend to write about what I need or am learning so I’m glad to be able to encourage others along the way. Practicing patience in MN…
