Why Would You Want to Have a Planning Weekend?

Why Would You Want to Have a Planning Weekend? Perhaps you don’t think the Lord has a vision or plan for you. The Bible says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future,” Jeremiah 29:11. Does that sound inviting or what?

As Stormie Omartian discusses in her book, The Power of Praying for your Adult Children, “the Lord is very willing to reveal His vision to us. He desires for all of us to have His vision for our lives, to have our eyes opened to understand our purpose and calling so we can respond correctly to the things He wants us to do, and so that we can know who He is.”
He is ready. Are you?

Our foundation verse says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish:” Proverbs 29:18, when you lose sight of the vision the Lord has for you and your family you spend a lot of fruitless time trying to determine what it is that you are supposed to be doing, doing things that aren’t part of His plan for you at all, or doing as many things as you possibly can so you don’t miss something He has for you.

Perhaps you don’t think the Lord has a vision or plan for you. The Bible says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future,” Jeremiah 29:11. Does that sound inviting or what?

If the Lord has all these great plans for you, how do you ever determine what they are? Simple, yet so difficult that most people never quite get around to it – you need to take time to ask Him to show you, and then listen.

Most people spend more time planning their family vacation than they do their lives. I want to challenge you to stop your business and take time to seek the Lord as a family for His plans for you.

Accept one of His personal invitations to come aside and listen.

Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God”.

Matthew 11:28 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Our planning materials can help you get started.

Getting ready for our first-ever Purposeful Planning weekend as a family! Has anyone ever used Phyllis Sather‘s wonderful resource? I read through it again today and made our list of areas to discuss! Assistant to the Director of Operation & Finance at The Old Schoolhouse Magazine, LLC

Donna Leonhardt Campos Awesome! Make it a great and very productive weekend. I love Purposeful Planning. I wasn’t sure about it, sort of had the attitude that I would ‘already know that, been there done that’ but I sooooo didn’t know enough. Great help, and God will bless you for the commitment and taking the time! Enjoy! ((hugs)) Administrative Support Manager at The Old Schoolhouse Magazine, LLC

Do you struggle with planning your homeschool year?  I know many new and veteran homeschoolers who do struggle in the area of planning.  Our giveaway this week will be an invaluable resource to you and your family!  Phyllis focuses on getting away from distractions, with her husband, and together seeking direction for their family from the Lord.    She takes you step by step in planning…for everything from schooling to husband and wife relationship to finances!  She covers it all!

One of the first things that I noticed as I read this ebook is that Phyllis has been there!  She has been in the “trenches” where some of you might feel that you are  right now.  She admits that she was in “survival mode” at one point…and the thought of planning did NOT excite her because it just meant more room for failure.  I definitely get where she is coming from…and I believe that you will too.

One of the verses that she focuses on is Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the PLANS I have for you, declares the Lord, PLANS to prosper you and not to harm you, PLANS to give you hope and a future.”  If God already has these PLANS, then why do we not consult with Him when we begin planning for our family?
