My husband Dan, took me out to breakfast recently. As we walked out the door after eating he said, “You always were a cheap date.”
It really wasn’t an insult, but a complement. As usual I had a coupon and the two of us had a very nice breakfast for $8.00.
Being a prudent wife is a great accomplishment.
It means that I’m very careful how I spend the money Dan works so hard to provide for our family. He has come to trust me to handle our finances well.
I often ask him what my budget is for certain things – say I’m looking at new bedding, or curriculum. I’ve only gone over his amount once, and that was for books. I can’t be very responsible when it comes to buying books, but I’m loving kindle and ebooks since I can often get a book I want for less than I would pay for a print copy, I don’t have to find a place for it in our collection, and I can always have it with me to read when I have a few waiting minutes.

Now for the cheap date part. Our first date was to The Black Stallion which was free at a theater in our neighborhood that was just opening, and coffee at Embers. We talked and shared our testimonies until the wee hours and the entire date cost less than $2.00.
What a great investment on Dan’s part!
Now for our link-up – My favorite this week is:
I have to pick this one because Martin and I share a birthday – the 10th of November. We were born just a few years apart!

Thanks for stopping by to share at #SocialButterflySunday! So cool you and Martin Luther have the same birthdays. That was an excellent book to read. I think it is wonderful you are savvy with money. It is worth it to be able to enjoy some fun things once in a while. My husband, sons and I love the drive in by our house and for $20, the 4 of us get in and we share a large pizza! Hope you will link up again this week 🙂
