Have you had to deal with cyber-bullying?
I’ve only had to deal with this once with one child. One of our daughters was part of an online writer’s group. They posted their latest writing and the others could critique it. This was supposed to be done in a nice way but she had one critique who wasn’t so nice.
- She verbally tore her writings apart.
- Criticised them on every idea or line of thought.
- Told her she should probably quit writing.
- She expected our daughter to respond to each long, long, missive she sent her.
- She wanted her to explain everything she thought was wrong and change it to her point of view.
- And other nasty things.
While our daughter enjoyed being a part of this group this one person was making her life miserable. She spent hours agonizing over her writing, thinking it was no good. Thinking she should stop and not post anymore.
Have you ever been in this spot with one of your children? What did you do?
Here is an article someone sent me that covers a lot of good information for situations like this.
I don’t agree with all of it, and you probably won’t either, but take what you can use and leave the rest.

How did we handle the situation with our daughter? After lots of tears and prayers, we did finally have to tell our daughter not to respond to that person at all.
