Today I get to review the book by this title written by my friend Beth Cranford.
Is Homeschooling Really For Us? By Beth Cranford
Beth has written the book we’ve all needed at one time or another. At 21 pages it’s really more of a booklet, and I easily read it in one sitting. But it is a booklet packed with information.
It is perfect not only for families considering homeschooling, but for families who are homeschooling but questioning their choice or struggling.
- Families who are considering homeschool
- It will give them an organized way to consider all their options
- It will lead them through the various choices and the pros and cons of each
- It asks questions that they may not have thought about
- It allows them to draw their own conclusions
• Families who are already homeschooling and having difficulty or questioning their choice
- It will help them get a clearer vision for their homeschool
- It will help them work through difficult situations
- It will help them get to the heart of what the Lord is asking them to do
- It will help them find alternatives other than quitting
This quote from the book tells you Beth’s heart for homeschooling:
“I come to this conversation as a strong believer in homeschooling. You won’t find any “You have to do what is best for you” advice here. I don’t believe that school choice is all about what’s best for you. I believe as parents, we’ve been called to do what’s best for our children. Thankfully, I’ve also noticed that in God’s economy, doing what’s best for your children usually works out in your favor as well. I believe that in most situations, with willing parents, homeschooling is the best choice.”
This quote voices my heart about homeschool:
“Are you fully convinced, through prayer and study, that God wants your family to homeschool? If so, then you have no choice but to find a way. I believe that whatever your struggle, if God has called you to this, He will be faithful to provide and to counsel you. Be open to his leading, be patient with your expectations, and be hopeful that He will indeed see you through on this venture.”
I was encouraged by reading this book and I think you would be too – even if you aren’t questioning your choice or having difficulty, its perfect for sharing with a friend who is.

I’m sorry about posting the giveaway and will be more careful in the future. I was just trying to get the word out. Thanks for allowing it.

God sure does provide our needs and if He has called us to homeschool He will provide. We had some tight times during our homeschooling years. There was one year where my husband was out of work for the entire year. We lived on severance pay, unemployment and then when that ran out – our savings. Yet I was blessed to be able to continue to homeschool and was able to buy the books we needed with no problem. We have a wonderful secondhand homeschool store near us, and I was able to trade some of my old books to get the ones that I needed.
I prefer that people don’t like up their giveaways because it’s not really in the spirit of the meme. But I realize that this seems like a great book that would be a wonderful resource so I will go ahead and let it go this time. I’m sure someone will be blessed by it! 🙂 Thanks for linking up to Making Your Home Sing Monday!

Amanda this would be a great book for you! I liked how she covered all the options and gives questions for you and your husband to discuss so you know where you each stand and understand each other’s concerns. If you don’t win it would be well worth purchasing.
