Recovery From Surgery Days 2 & 3 Nausea or Pain

Recovery From Surgery Days 2 & 3 Nausea or Pain

What a choice!

I went with the pain. It reminds me that I need to take it easy, that I need to allow my body to recover, even if it is slowly.

I remember reading Fearfully and Wonderfully Made by Paul Brand – pain is what lepers are missing – they can’t feel pain so they injure themselves.

If pain is so good, why do we do everything we can to avoid it?

Physical pain helps us to take care of our body. “A healthy body attends to the pain of the weakest part.” ― Paul Brand

Emotional pain helps us to take care or learn how to take care of our relationships.

Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. Make room for us in your hearts. We have wronged no one, we have corrupted no one, we have exploited no one. … Even if I caused you sorrow by my letter, I do not regret it. Though I did regret it–I see that my letter hurt you, but only for a little while–“2Cr 7:1-2, 8 NIV

And spiritual pain often leads us to the Savior.

“Even if I caused you sorrow by my letter, I do not regret it. Though I did regret it–I see that my letter hurt you, but only for a little while–yet now I am happy, not because you were made sorry, but because your sorrow led you to repentance. For you became sorrowful as God intended and so were not harmed in any way by us.” 2Cr 7:8-9 NIV

Since I have more reading time than usual I’ll be sharing some posts that bless me and perhaps even a book or two – I have about 20 on my list that I want to read, but I keep falling asleep. Lying down and reading just doesn’t seem to be a good combination for me yet.

My Beloved and My Friend by Hal and Melanie Young – You will be hearing more from me about this one.
