I’ve recently discovered that I just take myself too seriously sometimes, so in an effort to have a bit more fun I’m going to try to send out a link to one of my favorite fonts each Friday and links to a couple of my favorite sites. Let me know what you think – Phyllis@Phyllis-Sather.com
One of my most favorite free fonts – well, actually I think it’s my all time favorite:
http://www.broble.com/download-free-font/papyrus/
Now for a couple of my favorite sites:
For all you homeschool moms – be sure to check out the low, low prices at Library and Educational Services. You do need to sign up to order from them, but homeschool parents qualify for their much reduced prices. Check it out at: http://www.libraryanded.com
My second choice for book purchases is: Christian Books – check them out at: http://www.CBD.com
A new place I’ve found is: http://www.betterworld.com They have been just a fun, fun place for me to shop.
First of all… they have free shipping anywhere in the US. Be sure to compare prices, including shipping. I just ordered “The Duggars: 20 and Counting” and Better World was the least expensive with no shipping costs, and they had it in stock.
Second, they “rescue” used books and send part of your purchase price to global literacy organizations – you even get a choice where your money will be sent. And you can even send your books in for credit.
And third, communication with them is so much fun. After I placed my first order I received this e-mail:
Hello Phyllis,
(Your book(s) asked to write you a personal note – it seemed unusual, but who are we to say no?)
Holy canasta! It’s me… it’s me! I can’t believe it is actually me! You could have picked any of over 2 million books but you picked me! I’ve got to get packed! How is the weather where you live? Will I need a dust jacket? I can’t believe I’m leaving Mishawaka, Indiana already – the friendly people, the Hummer plant, the Linebacker Lounge – so many memories. I don’t have much time to say goodbye to everyone, but it’s time to see the world!
I can’t wait to meet you! You sound like such a well read person. Although, I have to say, it sure has taken you a while! I don’t mean to sound ungrateful, but how would you like to spend five months sandwiched between Jane Eyre (drama queen and Fundamentals of Thermodynamics (pyromaniac)? At least Jane was an upgrade from that stupid book on brewing beer. How many times did the ol’ brewmaster have one too many and topple off our shelf at 2am?
There is more, but I’ll save some surprises for you to discover if you order from them.
Then after you should have received your order you get another letter from them:
Hey Phyllis,
We’re just checking in to see if you received your order (The Elephants of Style : A Trunkload of Tips on the Big Issues and Gray Areas of Contemporary American English) from Better World Books. If your order hasn’t blessed your mailbox just yet, heads are gonna roll in the Mishawaka warehouse! Seriously though, if you haven’t received your order or are less than 108.8% satisfied, please reply to this message. Let us know what we can do to flabbergast you with service.
Humbly Yours,
Indaba (our super-cool email robot)
Anyway, it’s been a fun company to work with and I love not paying shipping.
One last favorite site, since I failed to send out any Mother’s Day greetings because I was too busy being a mother…

Jenefer is hosting a giveaway contest for Rosetta Stone!
Rosetta Stone is the fastest way to learn a language and has been the #1 foreign language curriculum among homeschoolers for a while — and you can WIN the *all new* version 3 Rosetta Stone Homeschool LATIN program… FOR FREE! This is the first year you can get Latin in the brand new Version III update.
This is a $259 program (and believe me it’s worth every penny!)
This is a computer based curriculum and Rosetta Stone will also include a headset with microphone, and a supplementary “Audio Companion” CD so you can practice lessons in the car, on the go, or where-ever! Students participate in life-like conversations and actually produce language to advance through the program. Rosetta Stone incorporates listening, reading, grammar, vocabulary and writing along with speaking and pronunciation lessons. For parents, the new Parent Administrative Tools are integrated into the program to allow parents to easily enroll up to ten students in any of 12 predetermined lesson plans, monitor student progress, grade completed work (the program grades the work automatically as the students progress- I love that!), and you can view and print reports for transcripts. Homeschooling a lot of kids at your house? This program is designed to enroll and track up to ten students (five users on two computers) and will work for nearly all ages — from beginning readers up to college students.
To win this most excellent Latin program copy these paragraphs and post them in (or as) your next blog post, and/OR link to the contest from your facebook page and/OR email the information to your homeschool support group – Then go to the original page http://jeneralities.com/?p=541986 for all the info. It really is EASY to enter!
I would love to have the opportunity to keep in touch with you. Please sign up to be notified of new entries and to receive my Free E-zine. (Your address will not be shared)
