“Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10b NKJ
Strength…do you wonder as I so often do, where the strength will come from for all that you are being asked to do?
These last weeks have stretched me far beyond what I thought I was able to do.
This seems to be the ongoing cry of mothers, but when we add homeschooling to the mix it really begins to look impossible.
We just had our four month old great granddaughter for 4 days and added our two year old great granddaughter for the last day. Let me tell you, I have a whole new appreciation for what you young moms are going through.
My husband reminded me that when our two youngest were those ages we had a four year old too. And when they were five, three, and one, we decided to homeschool.
Thankfully, I was much younger back then, but these last few weeks have reminded me of the Lord’s promises about strength – especially the one above that promises that the joy of the Lord will be our strength.
Sometimes we just pull ourselves up by our boot straps and push on through whatever it is that seems overwhelming. Of course, this doesn’t usually work so well, but we do manage to accomplish something.
But, then there are those times when we actually take the Lord at His Word and remember to thank him for the busyness and appropriate His strength by praising Him.
A recent thought for me has been that what we need in any given situation is always available to us from the Lord – it’s like money in the bank. Too often we forget to take advantage of all that He offers, or we realize it’s available but we forget to accept and apply what we need to any given situation.
What is happening in your life today that the Lord is waiting to help you with? Won’t you join me in accepting all He has to offer you?
“Your sandals shall be iron and bronze; As your days, so shall your strength be.” Deuteronomy 33:25
