And The Winners of “We Gather Together” Are

And The Winners of "We Gather Together" AreHow will you celebrate Thanksgiving this year?

Are things going well with your family and you are ready to celebrate and rejoice?

Or are things going really poorly and you don’t feel like you have anything to be thankful for?

For most of us we will land somewhere in between, but whether you are on top of the world or feeling like the entire world just rolled over you, you can find things to rejoice about.

“Now… our God, we thank Thee, and praise They glorious name.” I Chronicles 29:13

My family is currently one of the ones that feels like its been run over by something quite large, but this morning during our prayer time we decided that we don’t have to stay there. We are doing three simple things to help us take our eyes off ourselves and get them back on the Lord.

  • We started a thankfulness box. Nothing earth shaking there, but sometimes it helps to just reflect a bit and realize that regardless of what is happening there are still many things for each of us to be thankful about.
  • We agreed to use our vacation verse at home.

“Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.” Philippians 2:4 NIV

This means that we plan to try to meet the needs of others more often than we try to meet our own needs.

  • We agreed to try to be the one who suggests we stop and pray as soon as we recognize that one of us is getting tense or irritated.

“Blessed [are] the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” Matthew 5:9 KJ

What works for your family? How are you showing thankfulness this year? Leave a comment. Perhaps someone needs to hear your idea.
