What Do You Want For Mother’s Day?

What Do You Want For Mother's Day?

Finally, at age 35 I met the man who would become my husband. We didn’t marry for three years so at age 38 we would start our family.

Suddenly I found myself in the place I’d always wanted to be.

I’ve enjoyed a lot of Mother’s Days. One of them really sticks in my mind.

While I love chocolates and flowers I’m also very practical. When we lived in town we had a great front porch that had a tree next to it that was always dropping something so the porch needed to be cleaned off almost every day. The easiest way to do that was with a leaf blower but the one we had was out in the garage and so big and heavy that I couldn’t really manage it.

So my dear husband got me a little leaf blower that was small enough to store in a closet and I could easily blow off the porch whenever it needed it. My friends were all surprised that I was so delighted with my gift. I still have that little gift and use it to blow out the garage now since I no longer have a front porch.

I’d love the kids to just HELP me…not dictate to me, not overtake my projects….not ask or hound me why I have this mess to begin with…not be nagged about tossing things etc… just HELP me when I ask, no questions, just a lending hand, a smile & some time chatting while we do the decluttering!

I love power tools as gifts! My grandfather once gave my grandmother a stock trailer as a gift. It was a family joke for a long time, but it was something that got lots and lots of good use. Face it, guys want to provide things they know we will appreciate, not just things that will make us smile for a moment. 😀

My kids started the tradition of putting on a custom-made show every year, where they act out their favorite things to do with me. So sweet!

Well, Our last daughter was born May 12th , one day after her Dad , so I am very blessed to be able to spend my that mothers day and every mothers day since the best way ever……..celebrating the birth of our baby girl. It works out the best to get family together on Mothers day anyway regardless of when Iit actually falls.

What a treasure. It sounds like something I would enjoy too. My favorite times are when the whole family is together.

My husband and son usually buys me flowers, plants, bird feeders and seed just about every year. Last year, they went a different route and bought me a pearl necklace. My husband knows, I’d rather have something I can use or enjoy on a daily basis, but that necklace means the world to me, because he took a chance on buying something he normally doesn’t buy.

How special. I’m so grateful for husbands who go out of their way to help their wives feel special.

Last mother’s day my husband surprised me with a new flower bed lining the walk. And the traditional rose bush he gets me every year. I prefer a gift that lasts. Or chocolate. There’s always that!

I’m with you. Gifts that last. I love daffodils so my husband planted some where I can see them from my quiet time spot. The squirrls dug up a bunch of them, but I enjoy the ones that are left.
