“Save me, O God…

“Save me, O God… In today’s world we can feel this way much of the time. All I have to do is think about politics and I begin sinking. Our walk is often a step by step walk of obedience. We never know what the next moment will bring.

for the waters are come in unto my soul.” Psalm 69:1

Is one more wave all it will take for you to go under?

In today’s world we can feel this way much of the time. All I have to do is think about politics and I begin sinking. Our walk is often a step by step walk of obedience. We never know what the next moment will bring.

But that is true for all of us – we really don’t know what the next moment will bring. The Lord could return, He could call us home, or He could ask us to continue to walk in the work He has provided for us while we are on this earth.

Most of us will probably never do anything earth shattering, but we will repeat many things over each day, week, or month. We will change diapers, wipe noses, teach fractions, hear memory verses – on and on. This can definitely feel like sinking.

I’ve been reading Psalm 69 for several days now and for the first few days I never got past verse one. I would read it, close my eyes, and just pray it to the Lord.

“Save me, O God”

I remember watching a movie about Martian Luther. When he would be overwhelmed by fear and doubt he would repeat over and over, “I am Yours, save me!”

We are His and He does promise to save us. Yes, He saves us from our sins, but He also saves us from sinking under whatever burden we are carrying.

“Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke [is] easy, and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30 KJV

What are you waiting for? Another wave?

Thanks for sharing your story. I nearly drowned once as a child too – but it was a bully holding me under. I don’t remember who got him to stop. I know I’ve always been rather fearful about being in or on the water.

What a wonderful analogy! I love the visual of a wave breaking over our heads and our crying out “Save me, Lord!” When I was 19 I nearly drowned in a river (I had fallen off my inner tube and the river was FAST). I remember swallowing water, fighting my way back to the surface and hitting rocks and mostly I remember praying, asking the Lord to save me.

A friend saved my life that day but God used her to save me! He always hears when we cry. Thank you for linking up to Making Your Home Sing Monday!
