My dear husband says, “No one enjoys a bargain more than my wife!” so I’ve decided to submit one of my ideas to you.
Printer ink! Don’t you just hate paying the high prices? Yet printers are so handy and I use mine so often. I’ve found several ways to stretch my ink.
Check out the preferences on your printer. When I’m printing things that I’m going to read and toss I get creative:
~Use the draft option which prints lighter and uses less ink.
~Print in black and white – the colored ink often costs more than the black.
~Or print two pages side by side on one page – you will find that option in the layout section of your printer’s properties.
~Be sure to print on both sides of the paper – it won’t save ink but will save paper.
~Check your mail – often times I get a letter or advertisement that are on printer sized paper and only used on one side – I pop it into my printer and print on the other side before recycling it.
~When you finish with what you’ve printed be sure to recycle or go one step further like I do and use it to line the bird cage before tossing it!
Be sure to stop by Living on a Dime for new bargains in the Frugal Friday Link Party.
Happy printing!

It really does make your paper go a long way. When I clean out our files at the beginning of each year – after tax season – I usually have a pile of paper that I can use to print on the other side. I am careful not to use something with our SS numbers on it or bank info. Sometimes I make a separate pile and shred those after printing on the back.
Another thing I’ve started to do is save the envelopes that come with advertising. I use them when I drop off a deposit in the night depository. I just cross out the mailing address and write deposit on the envelope.
Post your ideas here so we can all benefit. Phyllis
