Recently I was reminded that I sign my posts, Finding Joy in the Journey. But do I?
Sure, it’s easy to have joy when the journey is going well. Your marriage is going well, no major problems with your children, and your bills are paid.
But how often are all those things true at the same time?
It seems to me that just as I get one area of my life working well, I turn around and several other areas are in need of work.
The last several weeks I’ve given more time than usual to writing, participating in online sales, and blogging. I knew we were leaving for a week at the cabin we rent, but suddenly it was Thursday and we were leaving the next day. And I had a weeks’ worth of things to do to get ready.
This trip has been damaged by my forgetting a number of important items that I’m responsible for preparing to bring along. Now, it isn’t a disaster, but things could have been better if I had paid better attention to my responsibilities. My family has been very gracious.
Then last night someone else made a mistake that affected me in a huge way.
Lately I’ve been trying to say, “I love you more than…” Fill in the blank. I love you more than what you broke, lost, or damaged. It took me awhile to get to that place last night, but I finally was able to go to the family member and say those words, hoping that my feelings would catch up with them quickly.
[Tweet “I’ve been trying to say, “I love you more than…” Fill in the blank. “]
I was faced with needing to forgive quickly and recover so our whole family could enjoy this time away.
I was reminded of [Tweet “Watchman Nee’s words, “A little bit of blessing can carry us over a great deal of trouble””]
I was being called on to give a little bit of blessing and forgiveness for the greater good. Would my wounded heart follow my words? Only God knew, but I had to step out in faith and trust that the Lord would be faithful.
While I’m still not overjoyed with what happened, I have peace and we are having a wonderful time together as a family. [Tweet “God is faithful and has allowed me to walk in truth rather than feelings.”]
“But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard [you] from the evil one.” 2 Thessalonians 3:3 NKJV

Rachel and Rebecca – I added you to my blog link-ups. Not the way I want it, but at least you are on there for now. We’re in the process of decided how we are going to change things so hopefully I’ll get to that page before long. I don’t like to stop in the middle of projects so I have to look for chunks of time when I’ll be able to do the whole page. Chunks of time a hard to come by these days.
Have a blessed day!

I love the “I love you more than…”! We try to remember to do that in our home. The hardest part for me is reacting calmly BECAUSE I love whomever more than… Instead I react out of emotion and then later come back with my head hung low. Sigh…
Thanks for sharing & for linking up to Favorite Things Friday with Simply Rachel & Hip Homeschooling! Please consider linking back next time to be considered for a feature! =) Hope to see you again next week!

Hi Rachel,
I’m working on an update for my website and will definitely be linking back to you. My link-up page is such a mess at this point. I have people on there I no longer link to and don’t have people on there that I do link to. I’m working on it as fast as possible. Have a blessed day.

I have so been here! ESPECIALLY with blogging, there is so much to do and think about that often I neglect or forget something else on my list. Balance is one of the hardest things to find for me, I feel like just when I get it down, something shifts and I’m back to off-centered living! Thanks for sharing and linking up at Favorite things Friday! I checked out your link page and didn’t see ours under Friday 🙁 ha ha, I’d love to see our name there so you are eligible to be featured. Hope to see you again this week my friend, thanks for the encouragement!

What a great reminder! As much as we need and ask for grace, we need to remember to give it and to love as Jesus loves. Thanks for sharing, and thanks for linking up with Christian Fellowship Friday! Hope to see you again next weekend. 🙂 Blessings!

It’s so true – we all need reminders, especially me. Thanks for stopping DaLynn.

Hi, don’t know if you are back from holidays yet but I have found you on Soul Survivor, being a near neighbour! Oh, I could relate in so many ways to your words, dear heart! God always gives us an experience to show to others what we hope they will give to us. I am so glad you found your place of peace and your holidays have not been a ‘disaster’! The Lord is truly faithful! Bless you!

I’m back! Thanks for your encouraging words. It’s difficult to see the big picture when you are in the middle of testing so I appreciate your insight.
