Adobe Digital Editions

Adobe Digital Editions. Adobe Digital Editions is an engaging new way to read and manage eBooks and other digital publications. #digital #onlinedigitalI haven’t pushed any products before but this program and the fact that it’s FREE is just too good to keep to myself. My husband says, “No one likes a bargain like Phyllis.” He also says, “Sometimes free is too much.” But in this case he would be right with the first line and totally wrong with the second.

If your e-book library looks like mine, it takes you quite a while to find the book you want. I’ve only printed the ones I want to study or spend considerable time with, so I’m usually scanning through them on my monitor first. My second frustration has been that sometimes when I close the book it doesn’t open to where I left off and I haven’t discovered a way to bookmark my place, so I end up with lots of little post-it notes on my desk telling me what page I’m on in what book. Or, worse yet, paging through to try to remember where I left off.

Then, much to my surprise, along comes Adobe Digital Editions! I don’t even remember where I first saw it, but it looked very interesting, and the price was certainly right, so I downloaded it and began to use it.

The website definition says:

Adobe® Digital Editions is an engaging new way to read and manage eBooks and other digital publications. It is built from the ground up as a lightweight rich Internet application (RIA). Adobe Digital Editions works online and offline and supports PDF- and XHTML-based content as well as Adobe Flash® SWF for rich interactivity.

The free Adobe Digital Editions download is under 3MB (Windows® version) and takes less than two minutes to install over a broadband connection. With an RIA service model, users always have the latest version of Adobe Digital Editions, taking advantage of new features and security enhancements.

I have to say it’s simplified my use of e-books and helped me to organize them in a way that makes finding them, and my place, extremely easy.

Some of the features I enjoy most are:
• Bookmarks/annotations
• Last book read
• Recently read
• Bookshelves – where you can put them in catagories
• Ability to easily adjust the size of type

Thanks for this Phyllis! Anything that makes things a little easier and is cheap or free is a good thing. I love the way the Internet can bring to light the generosity of mankind. 🙂
