Being Confident of This Very Thing

A good work
©First Fruits Designs

Dan had a song by Steve Green “He Who Began A Good Work In You”  running through his mind the day we took possession of our first home. It was a real fixer-upper and we spent that first day tearing apart all the things we were hoping to restore before we moved in a month.

The next morning our 16 month old son was crying inconsolably. He was on his second round of antibiotics for an ear infection but it didn’t seem to be working. Our pediatrician told us to take him to the ER.

Our lives changed forever that day as Eric went in for an ear infection and was diagnosed with leukemia before days end.

Dan felt this song was a word for us. Not that Eric would be healed, but that the Lord would complete in Eric’s life and our lives all that he had planned.

[Tweet ““Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform [it] until the day of Jesus Christ:” Philippians 1:6 KJV”]

As a mom, I still cling to that verse each time fear rears its ugly head in my mind and attempts to help me forget God’s promises.

[Tweet “As a mom I spend a considerable amount of time trying to keep everyone safe, but I’m constantly reminded that only the Lord can keep them safe.”]

“Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?” Matthew 6:27 KJV

I can be sure to train them to do things carefully and correctly, but in the end, the Lord will have the say as to when He has completed all He has for them and me to do.

As I get older I’ve begun to think, I’m running out of time. What is it that the Lord wants me to do? I’ve had to narrow my focus to what I think the Lord would have me do to complete His plan for me.

I’m not trying to be morbid, but the Lord has a plan for each of us to complete before He takes us home.

“Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:” Isaiah 55:6 KJV

What are you doing to seek His plan for you? Please share in the comments.

Just read this one this morning and it has to be my favorite from last week.

Thanks for all the encouragement ladies. Being a mother really does make us draw nearer to the Lord, even when we have healthy children. Blessings…

My daughter was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma at 6 months of age. Fear often rears its ugly head in my life. It’s a hard thing to subdue at times. Thanks for linking up with #JoyHopeLive and sharing your story. I’m looking forward to reading more. Hope to see you again tomorrow

The song and the verses are such an encouragement. I remember praying (on the way home from the doctor’s office when my pregnancy was confirmed before I had some x-rays) and telling the Lord that my precious baby was His to do with what He saw fit. I still pray that for my son to this day. God’s plan for his life and making sure he does what he can to fulfill that plan is something he’s been taught since he was a baby. Being reminded of seeking God’s plan is a nice reminder for me too. Thank you for linking up with Thankful Thursdays.
